Unwilling/unable to course correct much less detect or acknowledge the fact they'd been led far astray unwilling/unable to walk away from a ruler and movement that of late had taken to flagrantly cruising on a heading one-eighty from the one in which they were blatantly promised they'd be ever so righteously moving unwilling/unable to properly feel or deal with the real dissonance that should come from what seems as good as having switched teams by betraying their ostensible principles unwilling/unable to reassess so as to wisely avoid the mess of a plainly disgraceful result they wound up being trapped in what gradually devolved into an unmistakable cult. If only some one or thing had the skill and the will to spring them from their self-imposed prisons; if only their egos had allowed them to admit they'd been ruthlessly duped if only if only but the cold cruel truth only confirms that the truth usually burns when you find yourself hitched to a lie so to kill the pain they feigned being free of troubles in their copium-blown bubbles; in a cult whose existence they fully denied too proud to divorce the blinkering force that built — and kept building higher — the monstrous walls of self-deceit that shielded their newfound delusions from the view of their once-open eyes unaware they'd changed course and were now in support of what they once so rightly despised tragically blind as they were to their shocking unconscious adoption of positions which till recently they swore could not be any more worthy of being firmly and fiercely deplored.
Thanks ... I was particularly pleased with this one.
The interesting thing to me, is that your comment cast a light on the poem that revealed an aspect of it that I had not seen, so narrow was my perspective. Much appreciated!
DM’ing you
Well-expressed. Power tends to corrupt... No one gets to "succeed" in the cult without the sacrifice of their principles.
